Edit Encounter Element Overview
Encounter Elements are edited from within the Edit Element window.
Customizing an Element
An Element can be customized in many ways, including:- Element dimensions
- Position of Element fields
- Look and feel of an Element field (text color/size/font style)
- Whether a field is tabable or not
- Add new fields to the Element
- Assign a field name
- Associate a label with the field and change the text for the label
- Associate a value list to the field (from an existing value list or create a new one)
 
Editing an Element
Several attributes of an Encounter Element can be edited:
- The Secondary toolbar items.
	
   
 
- The Element Details for each Encounter Element.
	
   
 
- The Element View (appearance) for each Encounter Element. 
	
   
Navigating to the Edit Element Window
There are two ways to navigate to the Edit Element window:
- From the Encounter Elements window.
- From the View Element window.
From the Encounter Elements window
- Open the Encounter Elements window (for help, click here).
	
 After opening the Encounter Elements window, you can filter the list of displayed Elements, if desired (for help, click here).
 
	- For the Element you wish to edit, click the Edit button  in the Element row. in the Element row.
 - The Edit Element window displays in the Contents Pane.
- The cursor is in the Element Name field.
- The Open Windows list updates to display Edit Element.
 
 
	- Make changes as desired.
- To close the Edit Element window and save changes, click the Save button on the Main toolbar.
	
 - The Edit Element window closes.
- The View Element window displays in the Contents Pane.
- View Element replaces Edit Element in the Open Windows list.
 
- To close the Edit Element window without saving changes, click the Cancel button on the Main toolbar.
	
 - A warning displays, asking you to confirm closing without saving changes. Click the Yes button to confirm.
- The Edit Element window closes.
- The View Element window displays in the Contents Pane.
- View Element replaces Edit Element in the Open Windows list.

From the View Element window
- Open the Encounter Elements window (for help, click here).
	
 After opening the Encounter Elements window, you can filter the list of displayed Elements, if desired (for help, click here).
 
	- For the Element you wish to edit, click the View button  or anywhere on the Element row, except the Edit button. or anywhere on the Element row, except the Edit button.  
 - The View Element window for the selected Element displays in the Contents Pane.
- The cursor is in the Name field.
- The Open Windows list updates to display View Element.
 
 
	- From the View Element window, do one of the following:
	
 - Click the corresponding button on the Secondary toolbar to perform the following actions:

- Click the Edit button on the Main toolbar of the View Element window.
		
 - The View Element window closes.
- The Edit Element window displays in the Contents Pane.
- The cursor is in the Element Name field.
- Edit Element replaces View Element in the Open Windows list.
 
 
- Click the corresponding button on the Secondary toolbar to perform the following actions:
 
	- Make changes as desired.
- To close the Edit Element window and save changes, click the Save button in the Main toolbar.
	
 - The Edit Element window closes.
- The View Element window displays in the Contents Pane.
- View Element replaces Edit Element in the Open Windows list.
 
- To close the Edit Element window without saving changes, click the Cancel button on the Main toolbar.
