Special Encounter Type and Form: Medication Rx without Patient Visit
General information
The Encounter type, Medication Rx without Patient Visit, is based on an Encounter form of the same name, and is automatically created and saved by MaximEyes® SQL when a new Medication is added to a Patient Record outside of a patient visit. For example:
- The doctor communicates with the patient or a patient representative, such as the Primary Care Provider, regarding a new Medication. The patient does not visit the practice, but the prescription must be added to the Patient Record.
- The patient's Medication has been discontinued, and a new prescription needs to be written. The doctor launches E-Prescribe and prescribes the Medication; the prescription must be added to the Patient Record.
The Medication Rx Without Patient Visit form contains these Elements:
- Chief Complaint
- Allergy History
- Medication History
- Medications for this Encounter
- Addemdum
Note: The Medication Rx Without Patient Visit Encounter type and Encounter form come standard with MaximEyes SQL and cannot be deleted from the system.
When is this special Encounter created and saved?
Two scenarios exist:
- When a Medication is added to a Patient Record by:
- Clicking the New Medication button on the Patient Medications window
- Filling out the data entry screen
- Clicking the OK button
MaximEyes® SQL dates the special Encounter with today's date and adds it to the Patient Record.
- When the user clicks the E-Prescribe button on the Patient Medications window, and, while on Rcopia, either:
- Signs and sends a prescription
OR - Adds a Medication to the patient's Medication List.
When the user closes the E-Prescribe window, MaximEyes SQL downloads the updated Medications and Prescriptions from Rcopia and stores them in a newly-created Medication Rx Without Patient Visit Encounter.
- Signs and sends a prescription
