Rcopia Terminology

Term Definition
Active Medication Medication that is not expired or has a Status of Stopped.
Alerts Drug interactions, allergic conflicts, etc.
Allergies Allergies can be of several types (for example, environment, food, and drug). MaximEyes SQL can upload allergies and reactions data to Rcopia, but allergy or reaction data is not returned to MaximEyes SQL by Rcopia.

When MaximEyes SQL sends Allergy data, Rcopia tries to match the name of the Allergy with its own list. If it doesn't find a match, the MaximEyes SQL user must manually perform the match.

Note: Allergies should match most of the time.
Completed prescriptions Prescriptions that have been signed and sent to the pharmacy; they are also added to the Patient Medications list.
E-Prescribe To electronically submit a Medication to a pharmacy.
Formulary A patient's insurance drug coverage. Rcopia, via RxHub, looks up the patient's insurance drug coverage (formulary), if MaximEyes SQL provides the following patient information:

  • First Name
  • Last Name
  • Gender
  • Date of Birth
  • Home Phone
  • Zip Code
Note: Not all insurance companies are connected to RxHub; this varies from state to state.

Note: Formulary data is not returned to MaximEyes SQL.
First Data Bank A third-party vendor that sells and maintains subscriptions to their databases of medication drugs and drug interactions. Rcopia uses First Data Bank's drug database.

MaximEyes SQL is integrated with First Data Bank's drug database, and therefore can use a nationally-recognized NDCID identifier, which Rcopia also uses, to identify each drug or drug interaction.

Incomplete Prescriptions Prescriptions that are pending (have not been signed and sent to the pharmacy).
Medication Data Found on the Medication History Element.
Notifications Inquiries or comments sent from the patient's pharmacy or insurance carrier.
Pharmacy The user must manually select a pharmacy on the Rcopia site for each patient. Pharmacy data is returned to MaximEyes SQL.
PBM Database The PBM (Pharmacy Benefits Management) Database is a national database of information about all prescriptions dispensed within the VHA (Veterans Health Administration) System, beginning with fiscal year 1999.
Provider Agent A person who is not a Provider, but has been given permissions to prescribe Medications for a patient on behalf of the Provider.
Rcopia The DrFirst product used by MaximEyes SQL for e-prescribing. To visit the DrFirst Website, click here.
Script Also known as a prescription ("Rx"); a Medication with instructions on how it should be used.
